Dailies, greed mode, alt floors, all that stuff really is is the same things we've been doing, but presented in a slightly different way. Afterbirth does a lot, but it's honestly fluff. So, from here, all it takes is a small look at how Antibirth and Afterbirth build upon this "ultimate edition" of WotL Rebirth was. Rebirth's additions were relatively few, but significant, to make that core experience around WotL more cohesive. Rebirth, in many ways, was just a remastering of WotL with a little bit extra.
Post humous bosses, alt floors, endless unlockables, branching paths, variety, variety, variety. So many ideas, so many themes, it's where the main mythos started, it's where it ALL began. Isaac vanilla was a very, very small game. When you think about it, WotL was the biggest expansion we had. People who don't wanna listen can stop reading now, otherwise, I'm about to explain why.Īntibirth does something that Afterbirth does not, and this is genuinely expand the game in a way we've not seen since Wrath of the Lamb, and even in the same way WotL did. So, before I start, let me just frontload that I prefer antibirth. That way nobody can say "BUT IT'S A MINI DLC" as if that corrects everything somehow. Anytime I say Afterbirth, I mean both Afterbirth AND afterbirth+ installed. For the sake of comparison, I'm counting Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ as two parts of a whole.
